Nathan Nowack
Born as Sang Kil Lee in Seoul, South Korea, I was adopted at the age of 5 1/2 months into the loving family of Gerhard and Caroline Nowack. I was raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where my dad worked for Phillips 66 Petroleum company as an R&D Chemist. My older sister, Amy Sherman, is an interior design professional in Tulsa, Oklahoma working at Premier Wood Flooring.
I got a degree in Business Administration with a Computer Information Systems emphasis from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado. During my time in beautiful scenic Colorado, I started to appreciate the artsy side of things, buying my first 35mm, using a panoramic camera, and creating newsletters for my Fraternity. One year I even got a few of my photos published in a our International Fraternity’s quarterly magazine. I continued on in the path of multimedia, keeping photography as just a hobby.
In 2002, I moved to the sunny state of California and continued my career as a DVD Programmer. Over the next 4 years I programmed over 600 DVD’s including the Simpsons, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Algebra DVD’s, 24, and many more. I advanced my career getting promoted to a DVD Producer where I continued to use my creative skills in creating high quality content for DVD’s, kids educational games, and Blu-ray discs. Finally realizing my creative outlet was still not getting satisfied, I decided to pursue my own dreams and start up a photography company focusing on travel and landscapes. In 2007, I traveled at least 6 months of the year to places like Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, North Carolina, New York, Costa Rica, and Wisconsin. My life now felt more focused and 100 times less stressful. This was truly my calling.
After setting up www.nathannowack.com I continued to take photography classes at Santa Monica College. I enjoyed learning as much as possible about photography, while shooting almost everyday. I joined the newspaper staff for The Corsair and enjoyed it emensely. Recently, I have been elected into the role of Photo Editor for the paper and will continue shooting, organizing, and managing photo assignments for their weekly circulated paper and staff of about 40.
On weekends, I have marketed myself as a Photojournalistic Style Wedding Photographer. I’ve been working with and learning from a very talented Los Angeles wedding photographer, Henry Chen, and have learned a lot. I later started shooting my own weddings and portrait sessions, expanding my portfolio and gaining new clients every day. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the gift of photos with people who really appreciate fine art. I always aspire to create amazing unique photos for every client whether it be a $50,000 extravagant wedding or just park portraits with your dog. Photography may look different to every individual, but we all share the same joy when we first see that inspiring photo that we will treasure forever.
Although I shoot mainly travel, weddings, and portraits, I have also done commercial photography as well. I would love to someday work for a magazine company either traveling or taking photos at special events.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the photos. Please leave comments on the articles you love the most and don’t hesitate to contact me with any inquiries about photography related needs.

Nathan,
I have to say your photos are stunning, but this family portrait at the end, PRICELESS. Scary how some people, haircuts aside, never change. Best of luck to you in your new endeavors.
