I headed off to Colorado with my girlfriend, Allison, so that she could meet my parents and I could spend some quality time with friends and family.  It was a wonderful 6 days of eating, walking around sculpture parks, drives into the mountains, and drinks with friends.  My mother has also added many wonderful flowers in her front garden.  Here are the photos from my trip, I hope you enjoy!

Joshua Tree National Park

Welcome to my first official post. I’ve recently started this blog and thought I should begin with some simple, fun photos that I took over in Joshua Tree National Park east of Los Angeles, California. I went out there on Saturday for a photo workshop, filled with professional advice, creative angles and ideas, and a knowledgeable tour of the park. About 13 of us headed out of Santa Monica at 6AM in the morning and didn’t leave until after the sun was gone at 8PM. As the sun set, the full moon rose like a cosmic balance begging to be photographed. It was a long day, but everyone seemed to have fun and feel confident that they all got some great photos.

Never having been to Joshua Tree, I didn’t know what to expect. I had recently seen photos of the desert parks and the typical photo of a Joshua Tree. I wanted concentrate on my own style and get the photos I would normally get on any travel photography assignment. I used my wide angles, my zoom, my macro, and snapped away. From Desert Dandelions to huge Joshua Tree forests, the park was definitely amazing. If you haven’t ever been to Joshua Tree in the spring, I’d highly recommend it, but don’t forget your camera.

Cost to get in the park is $15 dollars that allows 7 days of access. You can also buy a pass for $80 that gives access to all National parks for 1 year. This seems more reasonable if you’re planning on visiting other parks around the country or certain parks multiple times.
